Characteristics: Hummingbird Mint is a perennial member of the mint family featuring spikes of pink to magenta colored flowers. Plants grow to a height to 3 feet and bloom in late summer.
Cultivation: This is a very well behaved species in the garden, does not spread via runners like some other mint species do. Full sun. This species will do best in full sun, it is very drought tolerant.
This species is listed as hardy to zone 6, which most our region in the valleys is, and seems to do well most years here in the Inland Northwest. We have lost plants after a hard winter.
Both Foliage and blooms are fragrant. The foliage is very "minty".
