Summary[edit]

Description
English: Common teasel (Dipsacus sylvestris). For a wider view of its location see > 950909. Teasels are endemic to Europe; they thrive in open sunny habitats, ranging from wet to dry conditions. A single teasel plant can produce over 2,000 seeds, and depending on conditions, up to 30-80% of the seeds will germinate. Teasel seeds usually don't disperse far hence most seedlings will be located around the parent plant which often provides an optimal nursery site for new teasel plants after it dies in that dead adult plants leave a relatively large area of bare ground, formerly occupied by their own basal leaves, that new plants readily occupy.
