HELLEBORUS (Christmas Rose)
They grow best in rich soil and a shady
location. Attractive the year round.
Niger. 1 ft. Single while blooms flushed
with pink on sturdy stems. December to
March. $1.50 each; 3 for $4.00.
Orientalis atrorubens. Crimson-purple
flowers on 12 to 15-inch stems. February
to April. $1.50 each; 3 for $4.00.
IBERIS (Hardy Candytuft)
Delightful little evergreen plants much
used in rock gardens. They make splendid
border plants, furnishing closely packed,
white bloom in spring.
Sempervirens. A fine plant with dark green
foliage. White flowers.
Snowflake. Large, pure white flowers on
dwarf plants. Best for borders.

Hardy Phlox is the backbone of your gar-
den during the summer months when color
is so much needed.

SILVER MOUND ARTEMISIA
A handsome, compact, mound-like plant
about 8 inches high and 12 to 15 inches across.
Fern-like foliage of light, bright silvery gray.
Very pleasing in the rock garden or as an
accent plant, but most distinctive for edg-
ing beds and walks. Prefers a warm, sunny,
drv location. Hardy anywhere. 85c. each;
3 for $2.25; 6 for $4.25; 12 for $7.50.
HARDY GROUND. COVER PLANTS
A specially selected list of the better va-
rieties, from 2 to 2)-2-inch pots, well estab-
lished for safe transplanting.
Six at dozen rate ; 25 at 100 rate. Ten per-
cent off the hundred rate when 250 or more
of one variety are ordered.
Planting of Phlox, Platycodon and Day-
lilies.
Plafycodons are available in blue at 75c.

AJUGA reptans
(Carpet Bugle)
Easy to grow in shade or sun. Lovely blue
flowers in April and May.
Bronze Beauty. Glossy reddish bronze
foliage.
Silver Beauty. Attractive white and green
variegated foliage.

EUONYMUS fortune!
(Wintercreeper)
For sun or partial shade in average soil.
Colorata (Purple Wintercreeper). Vigorous
grower with evergreen leaves about an inch
long, turning to purplish red all fall and
winter.
Acutus (Procumbent Wintercreeper). This
is the best of the Euonymus for a fast-
growing ground coyer. Neat looking, with
leaves similar to Vinca minor — deep green
in summer, bronze-green in winter.
Gracilis (Variegated Wintercreeper). A new
strain found in Japan. A blend of white,
pink, and cream-colored leaves. Can be
used as wall vine or ground cover.
Minimus (Baby Wintercreeper). A refined
type, adaptable for ground-cover use. Can
be pruned for formal effect when used in
sunny planters and as edging.
All Euonymus, $6.50 per doz.; $40.00 per 100
ERICA
(Spring Heath; Winter Heather)
Carnea rosea. This is the finest variety of
creeping habit, seldom over 6 inches high,
evergreen, and covered with dainty pink
flowers in very early spring. Sun or filtered
sunlight preferred.
Carnea Springwood White. Same as
above, with white flowers.
Either variety, 3-in. pots, $1.00 each;

HEDERA Helix
(English Ivy)
Newer hardy selections with good deep
green foliage.
Berlin Ivy. A selection from Berlin, Ger-
many. Large leaves with silver veins.
Thorndale Ivy. A good all-round English
Ivy. Vigorous grower.
Wilson's Ivy. This has smaller leaf than
Berlin and Thorndale. Leaf color is slightly
lighter green, quite tolerant of winter sun
and wind.

PACHYSANDRA
(Japanese Spurge)
A trailing plant, 6 to 8 inches high, forming
a complete cover of bright, glossy green foli-
age and small spikes of flowers during May
and June. $3.50 per doz.; $25.00 per 100.
SEEDLING
Select Jumbo Mixture. The
same famous blend that we have
been selling for the past several
years, with even more rare and
beautiful colors added to pro-
duce the most gorgeous display
of immense flowers of rare form
and heavy substance. Set these
seedling plants out this fall and
enjoy them next spring and sum-
mer. Pansy plants are not mail-

Late summer is the time to plant
perennial and biennial flower seeds.

SEDUM
(Stonecrop)
Although practically all varieties of Sedum
are adaptable for ground-cover use in one
way or another, the variety listed below is
highly recommended.
Spurium (Dragon's Blood). Grows well in
sun or light shade, trailing nicely on the
ground or crevices. Showy red flowers in
summer. Foliage turns reddish bronze in
the fall. Evergreen. SPECIAL 2J4-in.

VINCA minor
Newer Varieties (Myrtle)
Bowles Variety. The foliage is broad and
rich glossy green, of strong texture. The
flowers are not only larger but are of a
deeper rich blue color and are borne with
remarkable profusion.
Carroll White. As nice foliage as the Bowles
Variety, with large white flowers.
Alpine purpurea. Even faster growing than
the above two varieties, with purplish red
