The common name of this Erigeron can cause some confusion as it is not native to California. It is very fast growing and is covered with flowers from spring to fall. Once temperatures cool in the late fall to winter, the foliage tends to discolor and flowering reduces. The plant performs best with a three to four times per year pruning to both refresh the growth and encourage continued flowers. This plant tends to grow a lot faster and wider than many people realize so take care in where it is planted in the landscape. It can tend to overtake other plants if not spaced properly. Although the plant can be used in partial shade conditions, too much shade leads to a very untidy and errant look with reduced blooming.
