Aconitum Sparks Variety, commonly known as Monks Hood is an upright, bushy deciduous perennial with dark green, deeply divided glossy leaves. In the months of July and August the Aconitum Sparks Variety produces these wonderful erect branching stems with hood like, deep violet flowers.
The Sparks Variety looks great in all locations, we recommend planting in a mixed border to add deep violet colouring, with its erect flowers it can also add height to the rear of a garden bed. This perennial is a popular choice with many over delphiniums as this requires little to no maintenance compared to the other.
Aconitum Sparks Variety Care
The Aconitum Sparks Variety thrives in a sunny position with moist, well drained soil. Typically disease and pest free. Pruning is little to none, with recommended pruning in Autumn, simply cutting down the plants. Propagation for this perennial is through division to carry out in autumn to late winter, sometimes slow to re-produce but well worth the results.
