Symphytum Rubrum or more commonly known as the Red Ornamental Comfrey, is a lovely branching, herbaceous perennial with a clump forming habit. Mid green soft leaves.
In April through to June the Symphytum Rubrum will bloom small, erect rose pink, bell shaped flowers which create a wonderful bright display in early summer.
Low growing, makes this perennial perfect for planting at the front of a flower bed or border. Suiting almost any planting scheme and garden type.
Symphytum Rubrum care
Plant the Symphytum Rubrum in a shaded area of the garden with moist, well drained soil where it will grow well. Being hardy, typically can survive most weather conditions. Some pruning may be required, good for both beginner and experienced gardeners alike. After flowering simply cut back to encourage new, strong foliage for the following year! Generally disease and pest free makes a good low maintenance plant.
