The Big Daddy hosta (Hosta) comes with two main advantages: high vigour that translates to quick growth and excellent health and the wonderful, bright blue leaf colour. Presented variety grows about one metre tall and almost twice as broad. Its leaves quickly reach length of about thirty centimetres. Their shape is half circular and half cordate. Their blades proudly present deep decorative grooves on the surface and a deep cool colour. In summer, this plant produces slender, erect shoots that are decorated with clusters of flowers consisting of tiny, pale purple, almost white flowers.

This rather undemanding perennial should grow in shade. High humidity of the soil and air is conducive to its good health. The soil should be rather compact, and rich in humus. Large, blue leaves of the Big Daddy hosta look great in naturalistic corners under tall trees, reflecting in the garden pond, and in informal arrangements with white-leaved (White Feather), celadon or yellow-leaved (August Moon, Sum and Substance, Gooseberry Sundae), and multicolour (Mediovariegata, Aureomarginata, Frances Williams and others) hostas.
