Peruvian lily is an exceptionally impressive plant that is, however, seldom present in gardens. It is mostly used as a durable and charming cut flower. It originates from South America highlands. It produces erect, unbranched, leaved stems that shoot from fleshy underground tubers. Peruvian lily produces umbellate inflorescence that consists of several drepania on which flowers gradually develop. Flowers that consist of separate, long petals have a distinct dotted pattern inside, so characteristic for this species. The Orange King variety stands out with a fiery orange flower colour with a dark yellow dot under the brownish, striped pattern of the upper petal parts. This plant grows about one metre tall. Resupinate, lanceolate leaves are uniformly green. Peruvian lily flowers in summer, from June to September.

Peruvian lily is a magnificent plant that should grow in a showcase location. Its flowers exude subtle exotic charm and are therefore perfectly suited for flower beds and lawns. Peruvian lily looks spectacular in a pot on a balcony and in dense rows along a terrace. Speckled Peruvian lily flowers last from a week to fortnight in a vase.

The wonderful Peruvian lily loves sunlight and warmth, it needs a place sheltered from wind. It thrives in a humous, permeable, yet moist, slightly acidic soil. You plant tubers in pots already in March. You can then transplant them to the garden or take outside mid-May. You should dig out Peruvian lily tubers before the winter and store in a bright, moderately warm room.

Each package contains one first-choice tuber of the Orange King Peruvian lily. Essential plant facts and growing instructions were printed on the package label.
