Scarlet Oak provides the color red throughout three seasons. In the spring, the new leaves emerge with a red hue. In the fall, the leaves turn a vivid red that lasts until the leaves fall off after the first snow of the season. Scarlet Oak is tolerant of poor soils and wind . It is very versatile and can grow in a wide range of soils except alkaline and has some wind and drought tolerance which makes it a great tree to use in urban conditions and parks. The acorns produced from this tree are an important food source for songbirds, turkeys, grouse, squirrels and deer. Full sun.
