Tell Me More...
Spring jewel shimmering above the waterWhether edging a riverbank, planted in a basket in your pond or growing in a particularly boggy part of the garden, these huge white flowers are a joy to behold. From March to May, your RHS award-winning Lysichiton camtschatcensis produces arum-like flowers up to 30cm in height. The broad, glossy, green leaves on this semi-evergreen appear after the striking blooms and stand out amongst other grassy pond plants. Your lysichiton will also gradually naturalise in damp ground to provide excellent groundcover.Lysichiton is commonly known as White Skunk Cabbage, however this variety is considered the least smelly. The scent certainly does not bother pollinators who actively seek out these enormous blooms. This aquatic plant prefers clay or loam-based, boggy soil and a fully or partly sunny location.Your fully hardy perennial reaches a mature height and spread of 80cm by 60cm.
