I love how Lachapelle depicts Jesus in a more modern scenario, with these rappers falling to their knees in front of them. He is trying to send the message that these people who rap about sex, drugs and money still claim to be faithful to Jesus, even though their songs are about sinning.
I love this picture because of the beauty the photographer captures. The golden ships sailing through the blue sky compliment each other, and the flowers behind them add to the ascetic. But besides this superficial beauty, there’s an undertone of sexuality and possible racism. The woman is wearing lingerie and is in a very sexual position. The ships and flowers add to the “stereotypical” Asian. Besides the beauty of the picture, Lachapelle is commenting on racism and sexism.
