Sky-blue flowers attract many spring bee species and butterflies. Jacob's ladder grows in shady sites and is tolerant of juglone, the chemical released from black walnuts that inhibits the growth of some plants. This is a fast-growing plant and will recover quickly if the foliage needs a trim. If you have enough space, plant as many as needed 14 to 18 inches apart to create a nice groundcover. If you don't have space, Jacob's ladder works very well in decorative containers.
