Rhodophoxis

Low-growing herbaceous perennial with a tufty habit and a crown of spear-shaped leaves. The flowers come in creamy white, pink, deep scarlet pink or mixed in between hues.  The small flattish six-petalled flowers, which vary from white to pale pink or red and the six petals meet at the centre so that the flower has no eye. Likes full sun and moist peaty soil.  Divide in early spring or sow seed in spring. Origin: 4-6 species from South Africa but only the Rhodohypoxis baurii has been grown in gardens and become commercialized.
