Lychnis coronaria
'Alba'
in an informal setting near the herb garden at
Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, Virginia. Used in goodly numbers
this old cultivar provides a unique and wonderful look. There are very few
silver-foliage plants with abundant white flowers and this one of the very
best choices for that effect. The secret is using many of them and not just
a single plant or three like most borders. The eye will naturally follow the
white and silver in whatever direction you wish. Even the bloom is over the
foliage remains of interest. They can be cut back for a repeat show of
smaller proportions. Click image to enlarge LCH |
