When it comes to visiting an international country, Singapore was my first. Boy, I am lucky, to have chosen such a wonderful country. Singapore is a country/city-state in Southeast Asia. It is one of the richest countries in the world. The infrastructure is high class and an island which has the capacity to clean the sewage water so perfectly that it is supplied as fresh water afterwards.
Merlion is the national symbol of Singapore. It’s a mythical creature who has the body of a fish and the head of a lion. Hence the name, Merlion. There is a total of 6 Merlion statues in the state (the tallest one has been closed). The original statue is at the Singapore River.
A bit messed up schedule
On our day to see this statue, we had the Singapore flyer and River cruise in our schedule. First, we were supposed to be picked up from a point in the morning. But somehow, the time that was communicated to us was different. In a hurry, we called the tour guide and he agreed to wait for us at a place. We rushed to take a cab and eventually caught up. So now the first stop was the Singapore flyer.
The guide gave an option to opt from either Singapore flyer and River cruise or both. We opted for both. So, first, we went to line up for our ride. It is the largest observation wheel in Asia. It was amazing to see such a huge structure.
We boarded our capsule. It is quite spacious with two long seats on either side. A single capsule can accommodate 28 passengers together. Soon, our ascend started. Slowly and slowly while we were reaching the top, the view started expanding. Once we reached the top, it was such an awe moment.
You could see the huge sea with all the other attractions. Just wow. We clicked a hell lot of panoramic views. Didn’t wanted to miss a single bit. It took about 30 min to complete a whole circle. We really wanted to get in for another round, but it would mean that we had to miss our boat ride. So, we decided not to.
The Singapore boat ride
We boarded our tour bus again and were taken to the port for our river cruise. We soon reached the port and on we went on our boat. The guide explained that the journey it would follow is that it would cruise in the Singapore river showing a few of the famous buildings and structures.

The guide kept narrating the history of Singapore and the structures all along. It was quite an informative 40 minutes ride. We got off at the port again and made our way to see the star of the day. The Merlion statue.
It was soooooo huge. Such a beautifully sculpted architecture. Totally white in colour with water flowing out of its mouth. It was just majestic. People say that the water coming out of the mouth and flowing into the Singapore river depicts wealth. This is one of the must place to come when you visit Singapore. Can’t wait to visit such a wonderful country again.
That park is incredible. Kind of reminds of of Millennium Park in Chicago but also so unique.
