‘Betrayed’ Shannen Doherty discovered husband’s 2-year affair before undergoing brain surgery

Shannen Doherty underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor mere hours after allegedly discovering her husband, Kurt Iswarienko, had been cheating on her for two years.

“I went into that surgery early in the morning and I went in after I found out that my marriage was essentially over, that my husband had been carrying on an affair for two years,” Doherty, 52, claimed in the opening episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty.”

“To not go in that surgery, even though, being very clear, he wanted to go, I couldn’t go into that surgery with him there,” she continued on the episode, released Wednesday. “I felt so betrayed.”

“At the end of the day, I just felt so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum said. “Just to have to go through [health crises] while trying to figure out if you’re going to get a f—king divorce and trying to get to the truth of that.”

The Post has reached out to a rep for Iswarienko for comment.

Doherty underwent surgery on her brain in January at at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. The couple separated that month, with Doherty filing for divorce in April, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

According to Doherty, she became “obsessed” with finding out more about her husband’s alleged infidelity “through conversations, expecting someone to be honest with me.”

“If you share 14 years together and you cheated, doesn’t that person deserve the absolute truth regardless of how much that hurts them?” she questioned, adding that she did eventually talk with the other woman.

“It was embarrassing,” she said. “I am horrified that I can’t keep a relationship together. I think it is a reflection me, but this one, I think this one is on him.”

Doherty was previously married to Ashley Hamilton from 2002 to 2003 and Rick Salomon from 1993 to 1994.

“I’ve failed three times at marriage, but I still believe in love,” she said. “I also take some responsibility for the demise of our marriage. Actually, that’s not true. Let me rephrase that. I do not take responsibility for the demise of our marriage, I take responsibility for some of the issues in our marriage.”

“I take responsibility not only because of how I was but because of how cancer impacted my marriage and how it impacted him the second time around.”

According to the “Charmed” star, she felt like she “couldn’t walk away” from the relationship immediately after learning of the cheating.

“I was so confused and I was also on steroids and a lot of stuff from brain surgery because they didn’t want my brain to swell,” the “Heathers” actress said. “And honestly, it’s still really hard. Yes, I made the decision to file for divorce, but I have a lot of memories with this person.”

Doherty, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, will continue to share her journey on her podcast. Last week, she revealed that her Stage 4 breast cancer has spread to her bones.

“I don’t want to die,” she told People magazine. “I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better.”

She concluded: “I’m just not — I’m not done.”
