Shirobana Spirea

Spiraea japonica 'SHIROBANA'

Shirobana spirea (Spiraea japonica ‘Shirobana’), also known as “Peppermint Stick” or “Joseph’s Coat,” is a deciduous shrub known for its unique multicolored blooms. Unlike other spirea varieties that have a single flower color, Shirobana displays pink, red, and white flowers simultaneously on the same plant, creating a delightful mix. It typically grows to a height and spread of 2-3 feet, making it suitable for borders, foundation plantings, or as a ground cover. Shirobana spirea has a mounding growth habit with arching branches covered in small, serrated green leaves. The shrub blooms in late spring to early summer and is attractive to butterflies. Like other spireas, it prefers full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soil types. Regular pruning after flowering can promote a more vigorous and tidy appearance.
