Linn. Soc.67: 280 (1973) according to McNeill in Tutin et al. (1976). According to The Euro+Med PlantBase this taxon is not accepted at neither species of subspecies level and is considered a synonym of Solidago gigantea Aiton, Hort. Kew. 3: 211. 1789.
