Sam Asghari took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday night to clear the air about why his wife, Britney Spears, had been absent from social media lately.
“Social media can be traumatizing,” the “Family Business” actor, 28, wrote in a text post. “Sometimes it’s good to take a break.”
He then reassured, “She has her voice and is a free woman. I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times. Thank you to all of her protective fans.”
On Tuesday, Spears, 41, deactivated her Instagram — a move she has done multiple times before.
In September 2021, the pop icon took down her profile just days after she and Asghari got engaged.
A source exclusively told us at the time that the social media break was Spears’ decision and that “silence can be a powerful thing.”
Asghari also shared on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday why he doesn’t post the “Toxic” singer often on his own social media platforms.
“Out of respect for her privacy I don’t post her 247,” he wrote. “I ask for permission if I ever do.”
Despite the model’s claim, he recently got a lot of heat for catching Spears off guard during an Instagram Live video.
“I have nothing to say. I don’t want to talk to them right now,” the “Hold Me Closer” singer said during the livestream with nearly 3,000 people tuned in.
Asghari then responded at the time, “All right, sounds good,” before ending the Live.
The “Lioness” actor — who recently attended a GQ Men of the Year party solo — also shared Wednesday why he often goes to red carpet events without his wife.
“It would be my honor if she joins,” Asghari shared before disclosing, “For her, those things are not fun.
“They’re [hectic] and full of stress. Specially, since she’s been doing these things since 8 years old. Plus she already slayed every single one she has been to.”
The former fitness trainer then insisted again that he has “always respected and supported” Spears’ privacy and pleaded that “protective fans” do the same.
Asghari concluded, “Sometimes being over protective can cause more stress and damage.”
As of Thursday morning, Spears is back on Instagram.
