This fish is relatively hardy, but is susceptible to a disease known as Lateral Line erosion, or Hole in the Head. A vegetarian diet high in vitamins, especially beta-carotene, can aid in the prevention of development of the disease. The Sohal Tang does well in a reef tank but gets very large and is aggressive, not only against other tangs but other fish, as well. They also do very well in FO tanks with very aggressive fish like triggers, groupers, and large angels.
