Aster alpinus 'Pinkie' is a low growing aster that is notable for its flowering in late spring, rather than in fall as is usual for most asters. This is a selected color form with bright pink flowers with golden eyes. Because its parents are native to mountains in Europe, it is better suited for growing in cooler climates rather than in the South. USDA Hardiness Zones 4 - 7 in the East, Zones 4 - 8 in the West. And even farther north to Zone 3 with snow cover or other protection.
