Paeonia villosa ‘Sol’ (formerly P. mollis ‘Sol’).  Herbaceous species.  A small plant form closely related to Paeonia officinalis.  Single lavender blooms have a lighter interior.  This is a really neat little species with glaucus blue-green leaves that stands about 18″ tall, usually less.  It has been easily fertile for us and produces easy to grow seed.  Roots are adventitious – creating new plants easily from blind roots.  Excellent for rock garden settings and is of easy culture compared to most species.  These are divisions from our selected form, ‘Sol’.  P. villosa ‘Sol’ which is extremely vigorous and has superior flowers to other selections of the species.  Week 2 or 3 bloom time.   Prefers a well lit location in the garden.   Plants are small growing, producing small irregular divisions.  Premium divisions ship late September to mid October.
