Peppermint Twist
Stripes of white and coral pink
Plant Description
A bicolor flower, and very unusual and pretty. Each petal has a broad sweep of clearly defined rose-pink and white like a pinwheel. Deservedly popular! There is a caveat with ‘Peppermint Twist’ though, and that is that the color is not stable. It can happen that the plant reverts to the background color of hot pink. While it can happen randomly, in my experience this seems to happen more in response to division or rough handling, so I recommend that you disturb ‘Peppermint Twist’ as little as possible. Anytime you see a branch with solidly pink flowers, pull it out of the clump, and try to get a little of the root when you do so. Just cutting off the stem with snippers does not do the job. Is it worth the trouble? Most people think so!
This phlox description is here for reference only, and the plant is not currently available for mail-order shipping. However it may be available potted-up for on-site sales at the nursery, or with advance notice.
