Description

One of the earliest and longest flowering of the Japanese Anemone, Anemone hupehensis var. japonica ‘Praecox’ is a well-behaved favourite, giving fantastic colour from July to October, and often longer. Bowl-shaped flowers in shades of deep pink are held on wiry stems above maple-shaped, dark green foliage. The vivid blooms sway, attracting bees and other pollinators which will visit the golden yellow stamens. Happy in both containers and borders – even in coastal gardens – the deer and rabbit resistant clump will spread by suckers, producing more blooms each year, which are excellent when cut as an airy addition to your indoor floral arrangements. Anemone hupehensis var. japonica ‘Praecox’ is almost maintenance free, in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade, where it will reach a height and spread of 35-50cm. An herbaceous perennial which is fully hardy with an RHS hardiness rating of H7, therefore winter protection will not be required across the UK, even if temperatures dip below -20
