Comments are encouraged and appreciated. We are amateur botanist, and we do make mistakes sometimes with our identifications. We strive to make this a good identifying resource. Photographic Location: Sycamore Ridge Ranch in Middle Tennessee.
Asteraceae (Aster Family)

Comments: This native plant can be distinguished from the non-native Cirsium vulgare (Bull Thistle) by the white undersides of its leaves. Also, the floral bracts subtending the flower heads of Bull Thistle have thick coarse spines, whereas the bracts of the Pasture Thistle have slender golden spines.
