Eastern Marsh fern likes it wet and sunny, not many ferns like the sun. This fern is a spectacular plant. The plant we collect spores from is just down the road from the nursery. It hold its fronds upright and erect. The fronds are finely cut and nicely textured. The fronds are thickly space providing excellent cover for birds and other small animals. the fronds are dark green making it a nice back ground for other plants. It will grow in moist soils but will tolerate drying out. Full sun to part shade. 18 to 24 sometimes higher.

 

Good Compations are Bonset, New England Aster, New York Aster, Blue Vervain and goldenrods. It the spring pair with Marsh marigold if soil is very wet. Drier soil locations you can use Yellow Wood poppy, Canada Anemone, or Golden Groundsel.
