Product Description
Get all of our most popular colors in one beautiful mix of geranium seeds. This flower seed mix will produce big flowers reaching 4 - 5 inches across and dense foliage with a bushy habit and rich, dark green leaves. With large bloom clusters and striking zoned foliage, this seed mix is a show stopper all summer through fall until the first frost. Use this flower seed mix to fill your flowerpots, beds, and borders for an extra-long season of color!
Fortunately, geranium plants require little care, once established. They prefer full sun and a well-drained, moderately rich soil. They can handle partial shade, but become more prone to mildew if kept damp. These plants are easy to grow from geranium seeds indoors in late winter. Once the plants are established, they will bloom all summer and can be wintered over indoors or in a greenhouse.
To sow geranium seeds, it is best to start indoors 8 - 10 weeks before the last frost date is expected. Use starter trays and a good free-draining seed sowing mix, and press the fresh seeds into the mix, ensuring not to cover the seeds by more than 1/8 inch. Moisten the flower seeds and seal the tray in a plastic bag or cover with a piece of glass to keep humidity and temperatures more consistent. In just a short five to six weeks after sowing the seeds, transplant these young seedlings into small pots. Once frost season is over in your area and temperatures are climbing, gradually acclimate the seedlings to outdoor conditions for 10 - 15 days before finding the perfect location to plant your geraniums outdoors. Proper care includes using a liquid fertilizer when needed (usually about once a month), providing proper moisture for the plants, and deadheading old flowers to keep new buds appearing.
Soil for Geraniums The perfect soil for geraniums is a loose soil with plenty of organic matter. If your soil is on the heavy side, incorporate peat, compost or perlite. Manure and vermiculite are not recommended.
Where to Plant Geraniums Geraniums require plenty of sunlight to flower, but in areas with hot summers, a bit of shade is recommended. When it comes to how much sunlight do geraniums need, the answer depends on the specific geranium and your garden zone.
When to Plant Geraniums Don’t rush the planting season – geraniums are not cold hardy. But if you wait too long, you risk missing the cool night temperatures that encourage budding. Knowing how to grow geraniums outdoors begins with planting at the proper time. Wait until the danger of the last frost has passed and your soil reaches 60 degrees F.
Fertilizer for Geraniums Geraniums require light fertilization. If you feed them too much, the foliage will flourish at the expense of the flower. Although you may see it in your garden center, you don’t need to purchase a specialty geranium fertilizer.
Growing Geraniums in Pots It’s actually as easy as planting them in the ground. You need loose, well-draining soil, consistent watering and low levels of fertilization.Geraniums grow well in containers of all shapes and sizes, as long as they have drainage holes. The key to successfully growing geraniums in pots is to place them in sunny locations and out of damaging winds. An added benefit of growing geraniums in pots is that you can simply move pots inside during the winter. When placed in a sunny window, geraniums will thrive as a houseplant even in the coldest months. In spring, gradually move them back outdoors after the last frost.
Watering Geraniums Because you need to water geraniums thoroughly and deeply, take the time to leave an irrigation furrow around each plant to serve as a watering reservoir. This allows the water to pool and then gently filter down through the soil. To avoid root rot, allow soil to become dry between watering. Watering at ground level with a soaker hose keeps water off the foliage and protects against disease.Soil in pots tends to get warm, so growing geraniums in containers requires regular watering. The drainage holes help prevent root rot, so you don’t have to wait for the soil to dry out in between waterings. How much water do geraniums need? It’s going to require simply watching your plants. For proper geranium plant care, avoid letting your geraniums wilt.

I never expected to be this good, I am so happy and impressed.
Definitely I recommend them and I will keep buying more seeds.
Anyway, I planted six of these seeds, placed them in a dark location as instructed, kept them moist (best to add water to the saucer underneath the pot as watering the top of the soil seemed to shift/soak the seeds way too much). Four of the seeds quickly sprouted, and then two seeds continued on to seedling stage with the ruffles leaves typical of geranium. Now I'm moving them into the light, as directed.
I will update my review as these grow (or don't) and especially if/when they bloom. I grow a lot of geraniums, and while I know the "closed bud" geranium DOES exist, I've never seen it available by other seed vendors or in nurseries. I'm a little skeptical, but I wanted t give it a go because if the seeds DO grow like the image on the packet, it will be a beautiful addition to my garden. So I'll be thrilled if this guys turn out to grow like the photo. Otherwise, I'll be fine knowing that it's a dusty pink geranium.
UPDATE: These grew beautifully and two of the plants finally bloomed yesterday. However, they are NOTHING like the photo. They are a beautiful, bright bubble-gum pink OPEN geranium blossom. The blossoms are not "rose-like" at all. They are the same as your typical single-blossom geranium- big open five petal flowers. I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't like anything like the photo, but it's still a nice geranium that I'm glad I added to my collection. If you want to know what they look like, google "Nano Appleblossom" for photos. That's what these seeds apparently are. After doing a bit of research, it seems like the Appleblossom in the photo is called (specifically) "Appleblossom ROSEBUD Geranium", and it is different than "Appleblossom Geranium".
After 3.5 weeks I now have 8 out of 13. I will leave the rest for a while but getting better, just very slow.
Waited 4 weeks and now, finally, I have 9 germinated and done waiting. The seedlings look fine so if you have lots of time and patience, you may get results.
