About this item

Heuchera micrantha plants provide lovely white flowers from early spring through mid-summer. The flowers are great for cutting and add beauty to any arrangement.
Also known as Coral Bells, these perennial plants are good for Zones 4 - 9 and prefer moist soil and a partial sun exposure in the hot summer areas.
Start these flower seeds with a cold treatment to help break dormancy. Use 7 or 8 seeds per plant. Melting Fire plants have mounding foliage that is about 10 inches, but the flowers rise above the foliage on wispy stems and will reach 18 inches in height.
Heuchera Melting Fire is an excellent border plant with neat, evergreen dark purple foliage and graceful nodding flowers.
Transplant outdoors after frost danger has passed. Space the plants 12 inches apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil. Heuchera is usually resistant to deer.

Excellent Mounding Plant

Melting fire has a strong mounding habit and produces 8-10" tall foliage. Wiry red flower stems will grow an additional 8" above the ruffled leaves.

Heuchera (Heuchera Micrantha Melting Fire)

Grown from seed, this Heuchera Melting Fire (also known as Coral Bells Melting Fire) has strong, curled, intense purple-red foliage. Young leaves on a mature plant are bright red, giving the mound a 'hot' center. The 18" flower stems are also deep-red, carrying small clusters of white flowers from May through June. The foliage height is 10 inches, making a nice clump of attractive color.

This award winning Heuchera plant grows in a uniform habit and can be grown in full sun to partial shade. It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, and it makes a nice and unique cut flower as well. This plant proves an excellent addition to containers, borders, beds, and a variety of gardens. It looks especially beautiful when planted in groups, allowing its brilliant purples hues to fill a large area. These plants also grow well in rock gardens, adding a unique splash of color over the stone.

How To Grow

Many gardeners recommend that Heuchera seeds be stratified, which means that they must be refrigerated and put through a cold period lasting several weeks. This assists with germination.

Once these seeds have been refrigerated for several weeks, they can be sown indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost. Sow the seeds into starter trays using a sterile starter mix.

Keep the seeds moist, and germination will occur in 21-28 days. Once frost danger has passed, the seedlings can be transplanted outdoors.
