  • Mountain Phlox is a versatile annual wild flower that likes a position in full sun to partial shade. It reaches 12 - 20 inches in height and works well in a naturalized landscape setting or in a wild flower garden. It also is very pretty as it spills out of containers or baskets.
  • Mountain phlox is a 12 - 20 inch tall annual plant growing in USDA zones 6 - 9.
  • This variety, Linanthus grandiflorus, has white with a flush of lavender blooms that are nicely scented as well as ferny green foliage. Mountain Phlox is native to the Pacific Northwest and does well in mild climates, especially along the coast range. It is very attractive to beneficial insects. It is known to reseed easily.
  • Sowing Rate: 1 ounce per 1,000 square feet or 3 pounds per acre. Start the seed directly outdoors in a prepared seedbed in the late fall or early spring. Cover the seed lightly and keep it moist. With temperatures between 60 – 70F, germination is usually within 30 days.
  • For best results, space the plants 12 - 15 inches apart.

Sprouted after 2 days!
Planted just two days ago and now see sprouts. I soaked the seeds for 12 hours before planting. I lightly sprayed soil with water. Then I tore a piece of paper towel and placed over seedlings and lightly sprayed with water. Covered the seeds in the starter tray. 2 days later I’m seeing sprouts. I’m keeping the paper towel and cover on for now until they get bigger. I set humidity on full.

For the little love I gave them... Tossing them on dry soil that was dark packed and watering them daily until they sprouted... I was impressed! Once they sprouted I kept forgetting to water them in the hot July heat... They are still going strong! I think the key was to give them plenty of love until they sprout. I don't recommend you forget to water them like me though!

Assuming they will spread so later I can move them around. Like other reviewers I thought they were perennials but when they came it said annual on the package. Will post pictures once they come up and I can move them around.

These sprouted fairly well and once planted in my yard have grown and bloomed beautifully. I actually cut the spent tops off of all of the plants and they have started blooming a second time. They don't seem to be bothered by the oppressive South Carolina heat and humidity and the flowers last for weeks on the plant. They also stand well to being picked and put in a vase. The seed pack contains a mixture of medium purple, light purple and white with purple streaks on the petals and they look very nice planted in groups as the variation in clumps of flowers looks nice together. I will definitely plant more of these around my yard next year.
