One of the most spectacular of black spruces! One 3 year grafted Picea mariana 'Aureovariegata' tree. Picea mariana 'Aurea' is one of the most spectacular of black spruces, the blue-green needles are highlighted with creamy-yellow variegation along the evergreen branches. Contrast in needles creates a unique colorization. Variegated Black Spruce is a Slow-growing black spruce with an upright habit to 8 feet tall, 5 feet wide in 15 years. These would make really cool live christmas trees! Dazzling fluorescent Purple color cones will remain on the tree for up to 15 years. My tree came early and is very healthy. She is 10" tall with 6 nice yellow green branches. It looks like living art! Some complain about the crocked parts of the tree, but that gives it personality. Lets face it, nature has its own rules....free spirits welcome.

I bought mine 3 years ago at 6'. It is now 10 feet. This tree will grow to 30' not 8' as advertised. Once established it grows at least 1' a year. This is a beautiful tree and unique. The top of the needles are golden yellow and the interior of the tree is a blueish green.

I would not recommend this tree it was extremely ugly and if it had been growing in my yard it would have been a remove and replace. I don't know if they had other specimens that could have sent that was better looking or if this tree is just awful looking like a scrub pine. I have purchased other trees from this company and they have been fine.
