Lobelia fulgens 'Queen Victoria'Common name: Cardinal Flower, Mexican Lobelia.
Zones 5 to 9.
Full sun to part shade.
Plants reach 36 to 60 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide;
Herbaceous, clump-forming perennial.
Growth rate: Moderate.
Vivid red flower spikes stand tall above reddish-bronze foliage from late summer through fall. 'Queen Victoria' will tolerate full sun in cool, northern climates, but otherwise plant in part shade. Deadheading spent blooms will improve the overall appearance of the plant and may promote reblooming.
'Queen Victoria' differs from the species with its vigor, tremendous flower output, and leaf color. This hybrid cultivar is also more adapted to garden conditions and will generally live longer than the perennial species lobelias
