Scooter.Marca: AUTOPED Company Nazione: U.S.A. - Long Island City - NY Anno: 1915 condizioni: restaurato Cilindrata: 155 cc Motore: monocilindrico a quattro tempi Cambio: monomarcia con frizione Scooter significa monopattino e l'Autoped, considerato il primo scooter della storia, non è altro che questo: un piccolo, agile e innovativo monopattino a motore. Concepito per spostamenti sulle brevi distanze, l'Autoped obbligava il pilota a stare in piedi. Il montante del manubrio comandava partenza e arresto: se spinto in avanti rilasciava la frizione, se tirato indietro azionava il freno (e il pensiero va immediatamente al moderno Segway...). Una leva comandava la potenza. Completavano la dotazione un fanale, un klaxon e una cassettina degli attrezzi. Il manubrio era ripiegabile, consentendo di spstare a mano e riporre in poco spazio questo piccolo gioiello del progresso. Gli pneumatici e le manopole del manubrio davano, con il loro colore arancione, un tocco di assoluta modernità a questo mezzo. In questo esemplare anche le gomme sono originali.
