A survey of the works by one of Australia’s most treasured artists, on the fifth anniversary of her death.

Paddington’s Cooee Art Gallery will host an exhibition celebrating eminent contemporary Aboriginal artist Dorothy Napangard from Saturday October 20.

Five years after her death, Napangardi still captures audience's imaginations with her rhythmic and mesmerising paintings. A retrospective of her works is currently on display at the Seattle Art Museum, and in 2016 New York's prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired one of her pieces.

The exhibition, entitled Dorothy Napangardi: And They Danced Their Way Across Country, journeys to the heart of Mina Mina (a sacred site near the Northern Territory's Lake McKay). Her works depict its shimmering salt pans and sparkling waters. Feel the movement of Napangardi's female ancestors as they dance across the desert, through the spinifex and over dunes.
