About this product

Product Information

Enjoy the fastest available PC performance for socket A machines with the Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2 GHz processor. This quality AMD processor uses a Barton core with a 512 KB level 2 cache to serve data faster when required. A 400 MHz front side bus helps eliminate data bottlenecks and there are plenty of low-power features that ensure the processor is both capable and economical. This includes a low-power sleep state that allows the core to maintain its context while the internal clock is stopped, reducing power usage and ensuring that core temperatures stay low. The processor also includes AMD 3DNow! technology, a complex group of instructions that opens processing bottlenecks for multimedia and floating-point-intensive applications for faster frame rates playing games as well as smoother video playback. The Athlon XP 3200+ is capable and reliable processor.

    Still not SSE2 instruction set

I bought this thinking I would get the SSE2 instruction set. This is needed if you want to get Windows XP to work with newer internet browsers and other recent software that needs it to work. Alas this turned out NOT to be the case. This CPU has SSE instructions but not SSE2. Still, it is/was the fastest 32bit processor available for the socket A board and if you BIOS supports the multiplier clock (11x200) speed, you should see the high speed in CPU-Z. So this CPU combined with and SSD disk and the amount of RAM maxed out (2-3.2GB) will get you as far as is possible on a socket A 32-bit XP system I think. But if SSE2 is what you're after, you would need an Athlon64 or Pentium4 system

  • packaging

I found it at a really great price. When the item showed up I was a little scared because it was wraped in clear packaging tape. That generates 0.0012mv of static electricity. The foam was antistatic, but that mean it will no generate static. Static still could pass though the foam. I had to run test on the CPU before I installed it on the mother board I needed it for. I when through training about Electro Static Discharge (ESD) at a place that manufacture file servers and handles hard drives, main boards, memory, SSD (solid state disk, and open tape drive units that had several boards expodes. Proper grounding straps and shoe ware had to be put on and tested every time you enter the production floor. Certain clothing needed to be tested and if it faled, it had to be removed.

  • Very Satisfied with the AXDA3200DKV4E AMD Athlon XP 3200+ CPU 2.2 GHz

It works excellent at 2.2 GHz if I am running 333 or 400 MHz Memory module's, However, if I slap in three 1gig 266 MHz module's then It causes an error and tells me to set the CPU rating for 1.82 GHz. Once doing so in the bios setup program, it operates without any problems. The CPU is not at fault. The motherboard and bios I am using will only allow up to 2 gigabytes of of RAM if it is over 333 MHz Memory module's. If I run with 400 MHz module's I can only put two modules of 1GB each in the banks. With this old ASUS Motherboard I have to either run the 2.2 GHz with only 2 GIG 400 MHz memory module's or run 3 GIG 333 MHz Memory module's. As I said, It's not the CPU's fault. It's the motherboard. However, I knew this problem would present itself before I ordered the Athlon 3200+ CPU. No ...

  • Powerful retro processor.

Easily one of the best processors you can use for a retro Windows 98SE PC build, without needing to pay for the premium price of a Pentium 4. Would recommend finding a custom cooling solution as the normal one for the Socket A processor can get pretty loud.

  • Why, I stopped on a AMD Athlon XP 3200+ ???

Oh. Hi everyone, long time no see. I'm glad to see you all again. I will begin my review. After the establishment of the computer, it's been more than 20 years. Now a lot of new CPU models and their variants. Why, I stopped on a AMD Athlon XP 3200+ ??? Well, the first thing I wanted to say at the time it was a top-end device, which cost about $ 300. As the owner of Athlon XP 2500+, I have always wanted more power for your computer. This processor has a large supply of the resource durability. It has been 10 years after its date of manufacture, and it still works. Ohh, it's very good. If you build your office computer, you get a powerful enough machine for programs such as Word, Exel and other office programs. For a country house, a small office, where all ...
