Hidcote Lavender is an heirloom flower that is both a popular culinary and medicinal herb. It's known for its compact growth habit and the intense fragrance of its flowers and leaves. This variety sports deep purple, fragrant flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer, bringing a burst of color and scent to your garden. Hidcote Lavender is an excellent choice for edging paths and borders, for rock gardens or grown in a container. The dried flowers retain their color and scent and are often used in dried flower arrangements, sachets, and potpourris. In the garden, it also serves to repel insects, making it not just beautiful but highly functional as well.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
For spring planting, a 30 day cold stratification is needed before sowing. Hidcote Lavender prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Sow seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost, just barely covering them with soil. Maintain a temperature of 70°F (21°C) until germination, which can take 14-21 days. Transplant seedlings outdoors after the danger of frost has passed, spacing them 18-24 inches apart, in rows 24-36 inches apart.

Many factors influence the performance of seed such as temperature, light, water, weather, storage and the skill of the grower that are out of the control of Southern Seeds. In other words, a grower can cause high-germination rate, viable seed to fail. Nevertheless, we unconditionally guarantee all our seed for 30 days from the tracking verified delivery date and will accept returns on seeds for any reason for 30 days. We do not accept returns on seeds after 30 days from the tracking verified delivery date for any reason. Shipping fees on shipped packages will not be refunded.

We pride ourselves on getting orders out on the same day. The last pickup for our post office is 5pm ET and as long as the order is put in before noon, we will usually have your seeds out the door that day. Orders after noon will ship the next morning. Orders after close of business on Friday as well as orders on Saturday and Sunday will ship on Monday morning. There are times though like during peak growing seasons in the spring that our processing time may be longer. Please check our processing time on the listing for our current times.

All seeds will come in a small plastic baggy labeled with the seed name, number of seeds and a brief description of the growing instructions. That baggy is put into cardstock which adds to the protection. We have found that the number of seeds damaged in transit significantly reduced with this method versus wrapping it in foam paper and just putting it into an envelope like many sellers do.
