Summer Sorbet bluebeard is a fantastic novelty from England. It is a natural mutation of Kew Blue variety. Summer Sorbet has colourful foliage – the leaves are dark green in the centre with rich yellow margins. Flowers are violet-blue, come out at the end of summer and continue blooming for as long as 6-8 weeks. They attract bumble bees and butterflies.

It is a small to mid-sized deciduous shrub which benefits from regular pruning every spring. After all frosts cut it back to about 10 cm of last year’s growth. It flowers on new wood so pruning will guarantee forming a dense and compact bush. It gets approximately as wide as tall.

Bluebeard is usually quite soil tolerant, however, it does best in fertile, very well-drained soil in full sun. Drought tolerant. Fully hardy to about -24°C, on sheltered position to -27°C (USDA zone 5b).
