Sweet coneflower, or quilled black-eyed Susan is a Missouri native perennial, growing wildly on moist prairies and along riverbanks. It is valued for the longevity of its flowers which makes it an ideal cut flower.

Little Henry is a sweet coneflower variety, a shorter version of its predecessor Henry Eilers. Its unique flowers are composed of narrow, tubular, golden yellow ray florets with maroon highlights, and small, chocolate brown discs. Leaves are medium green, narrowly obovate to broadly lanceolate, slightly hairy beneath hence its Latin name subtomentosa. Well-branched stems reach slightly over one meter tall and hold flowers for as long as 3 weeks. Little Henry was bred by Harini Korlipara from TerraNova Nurseris from Oregon, USA, and patented as PP23590 in 2013.

It is not picky about soil pH and prefers moist or even boggy soil. It loves full sun and grows in part shade, too. It usually requires no fertilizing if grown in deep soil. Remove all stems just above ground level in early spring. Fully hardy to min. -34°C (USDA zone 4).
