Som old facts; The Autoped was an early motorized scooter invented in 1915. New York City, USA. originally invented by Arthur Hugo Cecil Gibson. This was probably the first motorized scooter and it actually ran on gas, so was more of a motor scooter than an electric scooter, but it looked similar. In the 1930s, Walker invented a device that used to add a fifth wheel 🛞 to cars to aid parallel parking. 🚗 🅿️ ⬆️ The extra wheel was mounted on the rear of the vehicle, at right angles to the other wheels. 🎡 ⬆️ When in use, the fifth wheel lifted the weight of the back of the car off its normal rear wheels, allowing the rear of the car to be swung laterally. 🏋️♂️ ⬆️ Walker was granted a patent for his device, described as a "vehicle lifting and traversing device", in 1935. 📝 He also demonstrated the device in operation, and the device was featured in LIFE magazine. 📸 In spite of this, he was unable to sell his invention to the car industry. 😕 What do you think of Walker's invention? 🤔 Why do you think the car industry didn't adopt it? 🤔 #invention #automotive #industry #walker #fifth #wheel #car #parking #idea

You have to try much harder to fall off a car, but those aren't without issues either--they're rather heavy, and that makes them relatively inefficient. The Lit Motors C-1 seems to fix both those issues in one vehicle, combining the comfort and topple-resistance of a car, with the excitement and efficiency of a motorcycle.
