PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

Bay Area residents early Monday were able to enjoy sunnier skies, calmer winds and the departure of a deadly storm cell brought on by the second and final wave of an “atmospheric river” weather system.

Still, the chaos wrought by the storm lingered, with hundreds of thousands of customers lacking power, and authorities cleaning up trees that fell across the region.

The storm packed powerful winds leaving many residents without power due to downed trees and power lines. Also, high rainfall totals put San Jose city officials on high alert, watching the flood stage of the Guadalupe River and evacuating the unhoused from the river’s edge.
