Cat Owner Left Terrified at Sight of 'Demonic' Pet in the Dead of Night

A picture of a cat that has been dubbed a "tiny demon" has left the internet in stitches this week.

Clara Clayton from Queensland, Australia, shared a picture of her cat, Fry, on Reddit on Wednesday, where it has received over 59,000 upvotes and thousands of comments.

In the picture, the one-year-old cat can be seen staring while lit up by a red light in a menacing manner. In the caption, Clayton asked: "How to stop my keyboard lighting up when my cat steps on it in the dead of night?"

This cat's middle-of-the-night antics had shocked his owner as she was trying to get to sleep. Clayton told Newsweek: "It was a shock turning around and seeing him looking so demonic in the red light."

The computer left in sleep mode was woken by the movement from the cat, who was hilariously staring at his owner.

In the comments, Redditors reacted to the picture and offered some well-placed advice.

"Turn off your cat before sleeping," joked one commenter. While another said: "He looks like a tiny demon. Is he doing it on purpose?"

Our feline friends being active while we're trying to sleep is nothing unusual. Cats have different sleep-wake cycles to us because they are crepuscular, which means that they often hunt and are active in the evening or very early morning.

While this middle-of-the-night activity is mostly caused by a cat's natural instinct to hunt or travel at these times, other factors involved can include boredom, hunger and even old age.

"Darth Vader sounds come to my mind," joked another Redditor after seeing the picture.

Another commenter suggested: "Don't stop it, just set it up to play the organ flourish from The Phantom of the Opera."

Clayton has two cats—Fry and Frida—and explained that she loves capturing pictures of their antics.

"I'm constantly taking pictures of my cats to share with my friends and family," she said. "The best ones I'll post on Reddit too because I want everyone to love my cats just as much as I do."

With this post, while she was asking for advice she also figured that the picture would bring a few laughs: "I figured I'd get two birds with one stone and see if anyone could give advice on how to fix the keyboard issue, while also sharing what I thought was a pretty stellar picture."

"He has risen," joked another Redditor on the viral post while another laughed: "He looks so menacing!"

"The reaction to the post has absolutely made my day," said Clayton. "I am so stoked that so many people liked the photo as much as I did! I know I love seeing all the cat pictures on Reddit so it feels so good to contribute something back as well."
