VIDEO: Jacksonville Beach’s ‘Florida Man’ is blowin’ in the winds — again — of Hurricane Florence

When Jim Cantore rolls into town, you know the hurricane threat is real.

When Jacksonville Beach’s Lane Pittman — AKA “Florida Man” — arrives, it’s about to get real.  

In the middle of Hurricane Matthew in October 2016, Pittman took to the streets donning only board shorts to wave his long red locks and an American Flag in the wind. It was all captured on a 9-second video set to the music of Slayer that’s garnered more than 3.6 million views on YouTube. 

Last year, during Hurricane Irma, he’s seen again in the streets and on the beach of Jacksonville Beach.  

And on Friday, there was Pittman again, in the middle of a storm. This time, however, he’s shown in skimpy blue shorts in the streets of storm-tossed Myrtle Beach, S.C., just down the coastline from where Hurricane Florence came ashore near Wilmington, N.C. 

Behind him, palm tree fronds and storefront awnings are shredded in the wind. It’s all captured in an 11-second video, again set to Slayer’s “Raining Blood.”  

Pittman financed the “gas/coffee” for the 371-mile trip to Myrtle Beach with a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $555 in just 24 hours.
