A very attractive ornamental shrub or small tree native to China and Vietnam with large, bipinnate, compound leaves and sprays of white flowers followed by clusters of small black fruits in autumn. In cultivation it is best suited to temperate climates in USDA Zones 7 to 9. It has many uses in traditional Chinese medicine.
