Peter Paul Rubens
Painter - Netherlands

Who was Peter Paul Rubens?

Sir Peter Paul Rubens was a Flemish artist, and one of the most highly regarded painters of the Dutch Golden Age. His paintings, which often depict classical and Christian history, portraits, landscapes and hunt scenes, use the Baroque style, which emphasize movement, color and sensuality. His portfolio of artworks, numbering over 1,400 artworks, are therefore categorized by their life and drama.

Amongst Ruben’s influences are the Italian painters Titian, Veronese, and Tintoretto, whom he discovered during his travels to Italy as a young man.
