The traffic situation in Bengaluru has always been a talking point of the city. However, on Wednesday, Bengaluru traffic peaked on another level that left the whole Outer Ring Road stretch from Tin Factory to Silk Board paralysed. People took to 'X' (previously known as Twitter) and posted how some took over two hours just to travel one km of distance on that stretch.
The Outer Ring Road stretch is also known as the 'Tech Corridor' of Bengaluru with all the major IT offices located on that stretch. The Bengaluru ORR stretch was constructed between 1996 and 2002. The 60-km stretch was built with this intention so that it connects major highways, and thus in the process will ensure faster travel and prevent any congestion of sorts.
However, on September 27, conditions were a bit more extreme. Listed below are the reasons behind peak traffic in Bengaluru, as has been stated by the Bengaluru Police:

More Than Usual Congestion Alert

Yesterday, the Bengaluru traffic police reported that congestion alerts between Silk Board and Tin Factory on the ORR stretch were unusually high on Wednesday. The congestion alert on a Wednesday on that stretch usually remains at 197, but on Wednesday it was a staggering 1,069.

Twice The Normal Traffic

The Bengaluru Police further reported that traffic on the ORR stretch was twice than usual. Wednesday usually sees a vehicle count of around 1.5-2 lakh, however, on Wednesday evening the traffic had reached 3.59 lakh vehicles.

Water-Logged Interior Roads

The situation was further worsened by the fact that rainfall-induced waterlogging on several interior roads and potholes prevented a smooth traffic flow.

6 Breakdowns

To make the situation more worse, the Bengaluru Traffic Police further reported that there were six vehicle breakdowns on the ORR stretch in the afternoon, which further narrowed the road for smooth traffic flow.
