Below is some of the waterlilies currently maintained in our waterlily collection. The list contains out of season varieties as well as the rarer ones. The rare varieties include those that has been used by the artist Claude Monet to the more recent hybrids, bred both locally in Australia and overseas. Some varieties in this collection has never been released commercially while some is available from time to time in small quantities. Please enquire for availability.

(Latour-Marliac, 1895) One of the best small waterlily hybrids by world renowned waterlily hybridiser Joseph Bory Latour-Marliac. Very beautiful flowers of rusty orange-red colour. The green leaves are marbled and splashed with chocolate brown. A compact grower that is suitable for container water gardens or small and medium ponds. This is the true variety, not the mis-labelled plant sold under this name. RARE.

Nymphaea 'Anna Epple' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Epple, 1970) NEW! An older variety but probably the most beautiful pink single blooming hardy waterlily to date. Soft intense pink petals with rounded tips. Reddish-brown leaves fading to green with age. Mature leaves has a reddish-brown edge. The flowers are scented with gentle sweet fragrance. It is also a reliable bloomer. One of our favourite imports. Rare.

(Harder, c.1999) Probably the best double white variety since Gonnère. Beautiful pure white petals in bowl shaped flower. Bright green leaves of somewhat waxy texture. Although a large grower, it is rewarding with huge blooms unfold. Sweetly scented. Free flowering in full sun. Excellent as cut flowers as it blooms profusely. Probably the best white variety bred by the late waterlily hybridiser, Johan Harder. Rare.

This variety has previously been mixed up with another cultivar Mrs. Richmond for some time. It's quite freeblooming. Excellent for medium and large ponds or farm dam. As it is a very reliable grower, it is one of our favourites. Rare.

(Strawn, 1998) One of the more interesting hybrids from the late Kirk Strawn. Attractive near flat rose pink deepening to crimson-pink flowers. Petals are near round at tips. Deep green leaves initially blotched and splashed with brown. A compact growing plant that would also suit the smaller pond. One of our imports from Strawn Water Gardens (USA). Uncommon.

(Strawn, 1997) Huge and beautiful double creamy yellow flowers that has brighter yellow centre. Strong fragrance. Green leaves that are faintly blotched and splashed bronze-brown. Unique leaf undersides that are plain reddish brown in colour instead of speckled patterns that are common in other yellow hardy waterlily hybrids.

(Latour-Marliac, 1893) Beautiful lilac pink flowers deepening each day to carmine or pinkish-red at the centre of the flower with age. Purplish-green leaves blotched and splashed with purplish-brown towards edge of the leaves. It is much smaller growing than the cultivar Joanne Pring. The much more colourful leaves is one of the distinctive difference between the two varieties. Sweet tea-like fragrance. Rare.

(Strawn, 1997) Very beautiful lemon sherbet coloured flowers. Strong lemon fragrance. Green leaves that are initially blotched brown. Unique leaf undersides that are plain reddish brown in colour instead of speckled patterns that are common in other yellow hardy waterlily hybrids. A more recent hybrid by Kirk Strawn.

The fragrance is sweet and flower is large and in a neat globular shape. Leaves are purplish-green ageing to dark green. One of the more recent Perry Slocum hybrids. Rare.

Elegant egg-shell white in colour, this waterlily has all the same characteristics as Nymphaea 'Sultan' except for the flower colour. Orbicular green leaves with overlapping lobes. Gently fragrant and free flowering. Rare.
