The Druids used the dried stems for the purpose of making predictions.

Flowers

The individual flowers are tiny, 3-8 white ray florets and 15-40 cream disk florets, arranged in flat-topped clusters.

Leaves

Bipinnate leaflets on either side of the stem, each leaflet is further subdivided. Rows of leaflets on either side of the stem, each leaflet is further subdivided, 5-12 mm wide, arranged in a spiral along the branches.
