Description
The Druids used the dried stems for the purpose of making predictions.
Flowers
The individual flowers are tiny, 3-8 white ray florets and 15-40 cream disk florets, arranged in flat-topped clusters.
Leaves
Bipinnate leaflets on either side of the stem, each leaflet is further subdivided. Rows of leaflets on either side of the stem, each leaflet is further subdivided, 5-12 mm wide, arranged in a spiral along the branches.
Fruits Seeds
Achene: a cluster of small dry seeds.
Edible
Leaves: young in salads gathered in spring or autumn.
Medical
Leaves: compress of fresh leaves stops bleeding and encourages healing, soothes inflamed tissues. The dried plant is used as a tisane to treat colds and ‘flu’.
