Description

The free flowering Blue Bedder or Foothill Penstemon is found in grassland, chaparral, and forest openings in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills and throughout the western portion of California. It is quite heat and drought tolerant. A good subject for borders or edging in front of large shrubs. Plant in full sun and give semi-dry conditions; with care it is water tolerant. Prefers well-drained soil. Cut back spent flowering stalks to encourage new growth.
