Lewisia otherwise none as Bitterroot. I call it one of the most underrated succulent type of perennial you can add in your garden. I truly love these guys in my garden. They add a splash of dimension and design with their rosettes and their firework style flowers…just swoon me.
Perennials are plants that will go dormant over the winter, survive and thrive through the warmer months. I aim to add mostly perennials to my yard as its an investment that keeps on giving. You don’t have to re-plant each year and they grow larger and spread…growing your planty investment.
The rosettes remind me of a succulent, thick and beautiful. They are truly amazing. They work in our Utah cold climate, you can plant them right in your yard. They will grow rather quickly and get babies and spread.
Native to Idaho, Montana areas…these were spiritual plants to the Native Americans. They used to roots as medicine and food. Please research if you plan to do so and consult with the appropriate folks before tying yourself.
INCREDIBLE addition to your rock garden and your landscape. These are cold hardy to zone 5 and some parts of zone 4. Please know your USDA zone!
PLUS what people really love about these guys….the FLOWERS. They are truly spectacular. They are like fireworks exploding. They bloom in the spring, stop in the summer heat and often bloom again in longer falls.
