Bethanie Mattek-Sands, partner lose to Swiss pair in Rio

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Coco Vandeweghe lost in two sets, 6-4, 6-4. They have been eliminated from competition.

RIO DE JANIERO - Phoenix tennis player Bethanie Mattek-Sands and her partner lost to a team from Switzerland Monday in women's doubles.

The loss came a day after a first-round victory over a duo from Spain.

Mattek-Sands and Coco Vandeweghe lost in two sets, 6-4, 6-4. They have been eliminated from competition.

They are the second U.S. team eliminated from the women's doubles competition. Sisters Venus and Serena Williams were upset in the first round.
