Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan spilled many secrets about their relations and family during their appearance on ‘Koffee With Karan 8.’ During one of the segments on the popular show, Sharmila made a shocking revelation about her cancer and that she had rejected ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.’

SHARMILA TAGORE’S BATTLE WITH CANCER

Did you know that Shabana Azmi’s part in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ was first offered to Sharmila Tagore? Well, the secret was revealed on the latest episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 8’ where the film’s director and show host Karan shared his regret of not being able to work with the legendary actor.

During the episode, KJo revealed he had offered Sharmila the role of Alia Bhatt’s grandmother. The character was eventually played by Shabana Azmi. “I had offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana Azmi in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. She was my very first choice. Due to health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes, but it is a regret I have,” Karan said.

While talking about the opportunity and why she rejected the same, Sharmila said, “This is at the height of Covid. They hadn’t really grappled with Covid at that time. They didn’t know the vaccine… We were not vaccinated. You know, after my cancer. So, they didn’t want me to take that risk.” This is the first time Sharmila mentioned her battle with cancer.
